MANILA— President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday presided over the 10th Economy and Development Council Meeting, where the council approved key initiatives that will improve the lives of Filipinos.These include initiatives on improving public transportation, expanding skills training and employment opportunities, strengthening the country’s clean energy sector, and enhancing disaster resilience. Among the key agenda approved by the Presidene are the proposed variation to the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) South Extension Project to enable the interim operations of the Common Station, the Project BEST (Boosting Employability in Strategic Technical and Vocational Education and Training Sectors), the Philippine Geothermal Resource Derisking Facility, and the requested changes to the Philippine Seismic Risk Reduction and Resilience Project to strengthen the safety and resilience of select public school buildings in Metro Manila.The ED Council also confirmed the Philippine Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Master Plan 2026–2033, which will serve as the country’s long-term roadmap for advancing AI infrastructure, digital connectivity, and innovation to support sustainable economic growth and national competitiveness.
