MANILA — Part of Muntinlupa’s local government support fund (LGSF) will be used to fix sidewalks and build sports facilities, Mayor Ruffy Biazon said on Wednesday.During the “Mula sa Puso, Para sa Pamilya” rice distribution drive, Biazon said it is their first time receiving the LGSF without requesting for it.“Nagbaba rin sa pamamagitan ng LGSF ng pondo para sa infrastructure project ang ating pangulo [Ferdinand Marcos Jr.]. Gagamitin po natin ‘yan sa pagpapaayos ng mga sidewalks natin at pagtayo pa ng additional na mga sports facilities,” he told his constituents at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex.“I’ve been in government for very long time, 25 years, pero first time ko ma-encounter na ang pangulo nagpa-utos na ang LGSF ay gamitin sa lahat ng LGUs all over the country,” the mayor said in a chance interview.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/2/25/palace-local-government-support-fund-not-pork-1700">Palace: Local Government Support Fund not &#x27;pork&#x27;</a></div>A portion of the LGSF was also utilized for the rice distribution initiative which will benefit 31,000 families. Among the recipients are from the transport sector, senior citizens, and solo parents.“Malaking bagay po ito sa’min bilang ‘yun nga napakamahal ng bigas ngayon ‘di ba?… Aabot na rin po ‘to [rice] ng mga one week kaya malaking tipid po,” Jovelyn Pabustan, a solo mother of two children, said.“Malaking tulong na ‘to sa pamilya ko [na] nakakuha akong bigas… Pasasalamat ko nakakuha ako ng bigas dito,” said 62-year-old Edito Casipit, who is living with seven family members.First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos and San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora were present at the distribution drive.Zamora is also Metro Manila Council president.“Pinadala ako ng asawa ko para, unang-una, kumustahin kayo at ‘yung kanin daw, pinapasabi niya, even though we cannot eradicate poverty 100%, at least itong konting biyaya, sa susunod na araw makakatulong,” Marcos said.The first lady is on her second week of leading the initiative in various parts of the country.
