<p>MANILA — Choi Kyung Jin, the widow of slain South Korean businessman Jee Ick Joo, said the<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/6/9/rafael-dumlao-mastermind-in-slay-of-jee-ick-joo-is-arrested-0930"> arrest of former police Lt. Col. Rafael Dumlao III</a> brought her family relief and a sense of closure after years of waiting for justice.</p><p>Speaking in Korean during her visit at Camp Crame on Wednesday, Choi said she experienced mixed emotions upon learning that Dumlao had finally been arrested after evading authorities for two years.</p><p>&quot;First of all, I was relieved that the culprit was finally apprehended, and it made me realize that the Philippine government had actually been making an effort to arrest him,&quot; she said.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/6/9/rafael-dumlao-mastermind-in-slay-of-jee-ick-joo-is-arrested-0930">Mastermind in Jee Ick Joo slay case arrested </a></div><p>She admitted that when Dumlao remained at large for more than a year, she had begun to think that Philippine authorities no longer intended to capture him.</p><p>&quot;But with Dumlao finally being arrested after such a long time, I felt that my husband could finally find some peace,&quot; she said.</p><p>“As for myself, knowing the culprit was caught, I felt a sense of closure—a feeling that &#x27;I did what I had to do’,” she added.</p><div><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FabscbnNEWS%2Fposts%2Fpfbid02vu4c2WubHwgY2V9hv8n7ZbsfBBpYtrjcDd1mGFu8mAu6vsyAgZorRZj45KGTGudEl&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500" width="500" height="773" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><p>She also expressed gratitude to the Philippine government, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla, PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., and South Korean Ambassador to the Philippines Lee Sang-hwa for helping fulfill her request to establish a memorial marker for her husband inside PNP Camp Crame.</p><p>“I never expected it to actually come true. I simply made the request because I hoped there would be a place to honor and remember my husband. The fact that it has become a reality feels like an absolute dream right now,&quot; Choi said.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/focus/01/20/17/tokhang-for-ransom-timeline-of-south-korean-businessmans-abduction-killing">Timeline of South Korean businessman&#x27;s abduction, killing </a></div><p>Nartatez said the PNP approved the family&#x27;s request to install the marker to provide them with a place where they could visit and remember Jee.</p><p>The marker will be installed within the grounds of the Police Community Affairs and Development Group (PCADG). </p><p>“They can visit this place.
