President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leads the “Bawat Barangay Makikinabang” event at the General Trias Sports Park on May 4, 2026. The President met with 165 Bagong Pilipinas Barangay Scholars during their orientation where he highlighted the importance of education, saying, “Kapag maganda ang naging edukasyon mo… hindi na makukuha ‘yan sa inyo.”
The President also witnessed the distribution of 10-kilogram rice packs to 2,000 beneficiaries—1,000 each from Brgy. San Francisco and Brgy. Santiago—and led the turnover of ₱6.6 million in financial assistance to 33 barangays under the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) and the Socio-Civic Projects Fund (SCPF).

MANILA – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed Philip Lo as secretary of the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas. This was announced by Palace Press Officer Claire Castro in a press briefing Wednesday, July 8.Prior to his appointment, Lo was the former chairperson of the Development Bank of the Philippines and also served as Chairman of Coast Pacific Group of Companies (CPGC) and Toyota Mabolo Cebu, Inc. (TMCI) in his stint in the private sector.  He also served as director in both Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation from 2002 to 2010 and Cocogen Insurance, Inc.Lo holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Santo Tomas, which he obtained in 1979. Meanwhile, Castro also announced that Atty. Nesauro Firme has also been reappointed as a new member of the Judicial and Bar Council.Firme was first appointed at the Council in 2022 as one of its youngest members in history at the age of 44.He obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Santo Tomas and had also worked as Chief of Staff of the MMDA Chairperson from 2021 until February 2022.
