<p>MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered all government agencies to prepare for the anticipated effects of Super Typhoon Inday as it entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility Wednesday, July 8.</p><p>Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro said in a Palace press briefing Wednesday said the president has ordered the &quot;full force of government&quot; to prepare for the typhoon.</p><p>Castro said the president himself has been monitoring the situation and advised the public to remain alert and be updated on the developments.</p><p>“Maliban sa mga ahensiya ng pamahalaan, si Pangulong Marcos Jr. mismo ay nakatutok din sa lagay ng panahon at sa magiging development nito sa susunod na mga araw. Paalala ng pangulo sa taumbayan, maging alerto at palaging magbantay sa takbo ng panahon,” she added.</p><p>(Apart from the government agencies, President Marcos Jr. is also monitoring the weather and related developments in coming days. The president&#x27;s reminder to the public is to be alert and to always monitor the weather.)</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2026/7/8/inday-slightly-intensifies-over-philippine-sea-1154">Inday slightly intensifies over Philippine Sea<br/></a></div><p>Citing data from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Castro said around 4.7 millon family food packs are ready for distribution across the country — 217,000 are placed in warehouses in Cagayan Valley.</p><p>Of those food packs, 23,000 are in Batanes as Inday is expected to barrel through Northern Luzon.</p><p>She added that the Department of Health declared a Code White alert and assured the standby deployment of Health Emergency Response Teams across the country as well as the Philippine Emergency Medical Assistance or PEMAT.</p><p>Around P36.6 million worth of medicines, hygiene kit at other supplies have also been prepositioned in various parts of the country.</p><p>“Binigyang-diin ng DOH na naka-standby na ang kanilang contingency plan upang hindi maputol ang serbisyo ng pangkalusugan,” she added.</p><p>(The DOH stressed they have contingency plans to make sure health services are not interrupted.)</p><p>“Nagsagawa na rin ng iba’t ibang paghahanda ang [Department of Public Works and Highways] sa pangunguna ni Secretary Vince Dizon sa Cagayan Valley. Naka-preposition na rin ang kanilang mga kagamitan kagaya ng mga trucks, backhoe, chainsaw at iba pang materyal na maaring magamit sa oras ng sakuna,” Castro noted.</p><p>(Secretary Vince Dizon has also led DPWH preparations in Cagayan Valley. Equipment like trucks, backhoes, chainsaws and other materials that may be used in case of disasters are already prepositioned.)</p><p>The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, for its part, has been undertaking clearing operations of drainages and other tributaries and assured readiness of 73 pumping stations in Metro Manila.  </p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2026/7/8/inday-to-reach-peak-over-metro-manila-on-friday-saturday-pagasa-1047">Metro Manila to experience peak impact of Inday-enhanced habagat on Friday, Saturday - PAGASA<br/></a></div><div><br/></div><div><strong>NCRPO ON FULL ALERT</strong></div><p>The National Capital Region Police Office has also placed all its units on full disaster readiness, NCRPO chief Police MGen Anthony Aberin said on Wednesday.</p><p>Aberin said police forces across five police districts are on maximum standby to respond to possible emergencies across Metro Manila.</p><p>All District and City Police Offices have been directed to intensify coordination with local government units, Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices, and other partner agencies to ensure a unified and timely disaster response.</p><p>Police units have also been ordered to conduct real-time assessments of available personnel, mobility assets, rescue equipment, and other operational resources to ensure they are ready for immediate deployment in areas that may be affected by strong winds, heavy rains, flooding, and other weather-related hazards.</p><p>Authorities are also increasing police visibility and monitoring in flood-prone communities, evacuation centers, major roads, transport terminals, and other critical areas to provide assistance, maintain peace and order, and respond to emergencies.</p><p>The NCRPO’s specialized response units and its Reactionary Standby Support Force (RSSF) have also been placed on &quot;maximum standby&quot; for possible deployment for emergency response.</p><p>“Sa panahon ng kalamidad, mahalaga ang maagap na paghahanda at mabilis na pagtugon. Tinitiyak natin na ang ating mga tauhan, kagamitan, at mga plano ay nakahanda upang agad na makapagbigay ng tulong at proteksyon sa ating mga kababayan,” Aberin said.</p><p>(In times of calamity, proper preparations and quick response are important.
