Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News </span></span></span></div><p>MANILA – The prosecution panel said it planned to ask the Senate impeachment court to issue a subpoena compelling Vice President Sara Duterte to testify during the presentation of evidence on the impeachment article alleging grave threats, counsel for the prosecutors Atty. Lorna Kapunan said.</p><p>Kapunan said the prosecution intends to file a written request for a subpoena within the 11 trial days allotted for the presentation of evidence on the grave threats article.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/sara-duterte-impeachment-trial">Impeachment Trial of Sara Duterte </a></div><p>On Tuesday, Kapunan told the impeachment court that the prosecution was <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/7/7/sara-duterte-impeachment-trial-prosecution-reserves-right-to-call-vp-as-witness-in-threat-case-1741">reserving its right to call Duterte as a witness.</a></p><p>Kapunan said the request for a subpoena would be filed on a Tuesday, in accordance with the court&#x27;s procedures, and would be accompanied by legal memoranda from both the prosecution and defense.</p><p>&quot;Subpoenas are requested every Tuesday. We will time it because we are given 11 days for grave threats. So within those 11 days, we will file a written request for a subpoena. This will be subject to legal memoranda from both sides. While the accused can be represented by counsel, I don&#x27;t think the same rules apply to a witness,&quot; Kapunan said.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/7/8/sara-duterte-as-hostile-witness-law-experts-react-1054">VP Sara as hostile witness? Francis &quot;Chiz&quot; Escudero told the prosecution he would rule on the request once the panel formally files its written motion.</p><p>The prosecution has been allotted 11 trial days to present evidence on the impeachment article alleging grave threats against Duterte.</p><p>Meanwhile, prosecution legal spokesperson Atty.
