Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN News</span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — The government is expected to announce its decision on the <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/8/6/us-seeks-quiboloy-extradition-1647">US request to extradite</a> Kingdom of Jesus Christ founder Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, who is facing charges of child sex trafficking and fraud.</p><p>The Filipino church leader is currently detained in Pasig City Jail for several non-bailable charges in the country.</p><p>&quot;Nakausap po natin kanina mismo ang Pangulo, at sinabi po niya na kailangan po talaga itong pag-aralan mabuti. Pero, in a couple of weeks ay magbibigay po sila ng anunsiyo kung ano ang magiging desisyon para dito,&quot; Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Monday.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/8/7/ph-to-review-us-extradition-request-for-quiboloy-1905">PH to review US extradition request for Quiboloy</a></div><p>Castro said under the bilateral extradition treaty between the Philippines and the US, the country has <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/8/7/gov-t-options-on-quiboloy-hold-off-on-extradition-or-hand-him-over-to-us-1303">two options.</a></p><p>&quot;Either manatili dito si Pastor Quiboloy, habang dinidinig ang kaso dito sa Pilipinas. Pero, puwede na temporarily ma-hold, ma-suspend ang kaso dito at magkaroon ng extradition at maipadala si Pastor Quiboloy sa US,&quot; Castro said.</p><p>Castro did not say who will ultimately make the decision, but assured the public that it will go through lawful processes.</p><p>&quot;Siyempre, hindi ko masasabi, kasi sabi ng Pangulo, in a couple of weeks saka niya sasabihin kung ano iyong puwede niyang instance patungkol dito. So, lahat naman ito ay dapat na dumaan sa proseso dahil may batas naman po tayo.
