MANILA — The Philippine National Police is pushing for stronger case build-up and more efficient investigations, saying police work plays a crucial role in ensuring that criminal cases move faster through the justice system.PNP chief P/Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the strength of a case largely depends on the evidence gathered during the investigation, making it crucial for police personnel to build cases thoroughly from the outset.“Through efficient evidence gathering and coordinated prosecution, our cops can help ensure that cases are solved and justice is served in the soonest possible time,” Nartatez said in a statement.He said investigators must ensure that complaints are properly documented and supported by evidence so they can move smoothly from the initial investigation to prosecution and, ultimately, resolution in court.Nartatez&#x27;s remarks came after Supreme Court Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo called for the prompt resolution of cases, stressing that judicial processes must be worthy of public trust and confidence.For the PNP chief, expediting justice does not simply mean completing investigations quickly.Police must also ensure that evidence is properly gathered and that investigations comply with due process to withstand scrutiny during prosecution and trial.The PNP said it continues to implement reforms aimed at improving case build-up, including closer coordination among investigators, prosecutors and other agencies involved in the justice process.Nartatez said these efforts are part of the government&#x27;s broader push to strengthen law enforcement and ensure the timely delivery of justice.“Kaisa kami ng hudikatura sa paninigurong agad na mareresolba ang mga kaso,” he stressed.
