MANILA -- Who is Dr. Beverly Lorraine Ho, who was appointed as President and CEO of PhilHealth?Ho is currently the chief health officer of Ayala Healthcare Holdings Inc, but is not new to government service.She has served the Department of Health in various capacities, with an Assistant Secretary of Health post at the Public Health Services Team before joining private practice.Ho also served as the Undersecretary of Health, Officer-in-Charge, Public Health Services Team Director and Health Promotion Bureau, and also served as a director of the Disease Prevention and Control Bureau.Prior to this, she also served as Special Assistant to the Secretary of Health for Universal Health Coverage, Alternate Representative to the PhilHealth Board, and Chair of the Benefits Committee.Ho also served as Chief of the Research Division of DOH&#x27;s Health Policy Development and Planning Bureau.<div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/8/10/edwin-mercado-is-new-doh-chief-1544">READ: Pujalte resigns; Edwin Mercado is new DOH chief</a></div>She studied medicine at the University of the Philippines Manila, and took her Masters in Public Health at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.Her pre-med course was BS Biology at the University of the Philippines Diliman where she graduated cum laude.Ho also received several awards and recognition, including the Leadership Award in Public Health Practice, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in 2024. She was part of the Ten Outstanding Young Men of JCI Philippines in 2022 and the Ten Outstanding Young Women for Nation Service of TOWNS Foundation in the same year.
