The examination centered on del Campo’s testimony regarding the alleged misuse and misappropriation of ₱612.5 million in confidential funds allocated to the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd).<em> Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News </em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — The Commission on Audit has no findings related to the “funny names&quot; of the supposed recipients of the Office of the Vice President and the Department of Education’s confidential funds, a state auditor said Wednesday during the impeachment trial of VP Sara Duterte. </p><p>During the cross-examination, witness Xylene Mae Del Campo said the COA’s Notices of Disallowance and Audit Observation Memoranda for the OVP and DepEd did not include findings related to the names earlier in the acknowledgment receipts provided by the agencies. </p><p>This was Del Campo’s response to defense counsel Kristine Ferrer’s question: “If the name appears funny, does that automatically mean that the name is fictitious?”</p><p>The question pertained to the supposed recipients appearing to have names similar to famous food brands, including a “Mary Grace Piattos” and “Renan Piattos,” as well as those sounding like Filipino phrases such as “Andy C. Lim” and “Patty Ting.”</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>&#x27;NAMES ARE INCIDENTAL&#x27;</strong></div><p>Atty. Lorna Kapunan, counsel for the prosecutors, objected to the question and argued that the prosecution presented the acknowledgement receipts not to highlight the names but to show how the funds were supposedly disbursed.</p><p>“The names are incidental; that the names are funny or fruit salad-y or names of congressman or senator, is immaterial. They were flashed in the manner by which the funds were used,” Kapunan said.</p><p>Escudero overruled the objection and told Kapunan: “You have to admit, you had fun with the names too.
