Kristine Ferrer is one of the counsels of the defense team of Vice President Sara Duterte in the ongoing Senate impeachment trial.</p><p>Ferrer, known as “Tine” among her colleagues, is a partner lawyer of the Fortun, Narvasa and Salazar Law Firm (FNS).</p><p>She finished her Bachelor in Accountancy degree at the Ateneo de Davao University and was admitted to the Bar in 2011.</p><p>Ferrer&#x27;s practice areas include arbitration, corporate and commercial practice and corporate rehabilitation, litigation and dispute resolution, and taxation.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/8/12/tension-giggles-in-senate-court-as-counsels-spar-in-cross-1341">Tension, giggles in Senate court as defense, prosecution counsels spar in cross examination<br/></a></div><p>She has served as a lecturer in Taxation Law and Special Proceedings at the Ateneo de Davao University College of Law. She also taught accounting at the School of Business and Governance of the Ateneo de Davao University.</p><p>As a debater, her team emerged champion in the First National Debate on International Humanitarian Law where she was awarded as the best debater of the tournament.</p><p>She was also a finalist in the first season of ANC CVC Law Debates in 2008.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>15 YEARS OF LEGAL PRACTICE</strong></div><p>A certified public accountant lawyer with 15 years of legal practice, Ferrer began her career as a tax lawyer at Sycip, Gorres, Velayo &amp; Co.</p><p>When Ferrer joined FNS, she eventually became the firm’s head of tax, specializing in mergers and acquisitions. She has been involved in major local and international transactions handled by the firm.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/8/12/tension-giggles-in-senate-court-as-counsels-spar-in-cross-1341">&#x27;I&#x27;m still very much alive&#x27;: Tension, giggles in Senate court as defense, prosecution counsels spar in cross-examination</a></div><div><br/></div><div><strong>NOTABLE CASES</strong></div><p>According to the FNS website, Ferrer’s notable achievements include leading the team that facilitated what was widely regarded as the largest tax compromise settlement in the country — the P25 billion tax compromise settlement between Mighty Corp. and the Bureau of Internal Revenue.</p><p>Ferrer also completed the BIR requirements for the P45-billion acquisition of Mighty Corp.&#x27;s assets by JT International (Philippines), Inc.</p><p>Recently, Ferrer’s team was able to secure a refund of erroneously paid taxes on royalties amounting to P152.5 million before the Court of Tax Appeals.</p><p>She was named one of the “10 Most Successful Leaders to Follow in Asia” in the 2023 edition of Tycoon Success Magazine and one of the “Top 10 Consulting Company Leaders from the Philippines” in the 2023 edition of CEO Insights Asia.</p><p>Ferrer was also named the Exclusive Member for Corporate Law in the Philippines by the Global Law Experts for the year 2026 and was recognized by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific as a Recommended Lawyer for Projects and Energy, and for Corporate and M&amp;A.</p><p>Ferrer has certification in Negotiation Mastery from Harvard Business School Online.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO:</strong></div><div style="text-align:center"><iframe width="960" height="540" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/RkQhn0xA0bg?si=eSfx4BojorKMUZMw" title="YouTube video player" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div>
