MANILA- The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has ordered an immediate investigation into the handling of an emergency 911 call involving an elderly patient in Taguig. The investigation comes after a viral social media post by a man seeking help through 911 for his father, who he said needed emergency assistance.The father later died, while the uploader also raised concerns about the equipment on the responding ambulance. <div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/7/22/dilg-launches-unified-911-emergency-hotline-2356">DILG launches unified 911 emergency hotline </a> </div>In a message sent to ABS-CBN News, DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla said the initial report from Director Francis Fajardo of DILG Emergency Call 911 showed the call was received at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, involving a 71-year-old patient.&quot;Based on the report, 911 received the call at 12:15 PM involving a 71-year-old patient in Maharlika Village, Taguig who reportedly suffered a mild stroke and needed urgent ambulance assistance. The call was relayed to the Taguig Command Center at around 12:17 PM, which acknowledged the emergency and committed to dispatch an ambulance,&quot; Remulla said. However, the DILG chief said there was still no confirmation hours later on whether an ambulance was actually dispatched or reached the patient.&quot;However, despite follow-ups at 4:57 PM and 5:56 PM, there was still no confirmation whether the ambulance was actually dispatched or had arrived,&quot; he said. Remulla also said the initial report indicated a possible problem in the handover of the case between shifts, raising further questions about how the emergency was endorsed and monitored after the call was relayed to the local command center.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2026/8/5/911-prank-caller-arestado-suspek-gusto-lang-ipahanap-ang-nawawalang-nobya-1717">911 prank caller, arestado; suspek, gusto lang ipahanap ang nawawalang nobya</a></div>&quot;There also appears to have been an issue with the shift handover and endorsement of the case,&quot; Remulla said. The DILG had earlier confirmed that it is investigating the incident, following reports that it took nearly 10 minutes for the 911 emergency dispatcher to answer the call.&quot;We are investigating the matter with all seriousness,&quot; Remulla said in an earlier statement to ABS-CBN News.Remulla said Fajardo documented the incident to pave the way for the investigation.
