Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News/File</div>MANILA -- The ongoing impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte is not expected to affect the upcoming budget deliberations, said Manila sixth district Representative Bienvenido Abante.Speaking at a Saturday News Forum, Abante said the impeachment trial will not coincide nor clash with the schedule of the budget deliberations.&quot;Palagay ko, hindi naman kasi nakita naman natin na four hours lang ang impeachment, three o clock deliberations na yan, so I don&#x27;t think maaapektuhan,&quot; he said.Heavy scrutiny is expected on the budget especially with the anti-corruption efforts of the Marcos administration.As early as the turnover of the 2027 National Expenditure Program, several lawmakers already criticized the reduction of budget allocations for social services.<div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/8/12/house-members-question-cuts-in-social-services-health-agriculture-in-2027-nep-1737">READ: House members question cuts in social services, health, agriculture in 2027 NEP</a></div>Several issues also hound the budget deliberations such as the recently-floated &quot;<a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/8/14/house-lawmakers-deny-knowledge-of-leadership-funds-in-2025-budget-1755">leadership funds</a>,&quot; as even President Marcos, Senate, and House leaders said they are not aware of it.To push for transparency, Abante says they want to once again publicize the opening of the bicameral proceedings on the budget.&quot;Palagay ko dapat maging transparent tayo sa Bicam talagang dapat makita. Ako naniniwala kinakailangang imbitahan ang mga religious, educators, civil society, dapat lahat yan imbitahan para makita nila na wala tayo anumang tinatago,&quot; he added.
