<p>MANILA — The Philippine Coast Guard welcomed patrol vessel BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV-8301) back to home port after its participation in the US-hosted Rim of the Pacific Exercise in Hawaii.</p><p>It was the first time for the PCG to join the world&#x27;s largest international maritime warfare exercise. </p><p>The Philippine Navy&#x27;s missile corvette BRP Miguel Malvar (FFG-6) also joined RIMPAC 2026.</p><p>In recognition of their service, the PCG awarded the Coast Guard Distinguished Service Medal and Ribbon to the following:</p><ul><li>Rear Adm. Weniel Azcuna, commander of Task Force 93 </li><li>Commodore Algier Ricafrente</li><li>Commodore August Cariño</li><li>Capt. Jomark Angue</li></ul><div><br/></div><p>Irene Carandang, PCG overall coordinator and planner was awarded the Superior Honor Medal while select members of Task Force 93 RIMPAC 2026 were recognized with the Coast Guard Superior Achievement Medal and Ribbon.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/7/29/ph-coast-guard-s-rimpac-debut-highlights-growing-role-in-indo-pacific-security-1807"><strong>PH Coast Guard&#x27;s RIMPAC debut highlights growing role in Indo-Pacific security<br/></strong></a></div><p>RIMPAC 2026 planners also received the Coast Guard Outstanding Achievement Medal and Ribbon. </p><p>The PCG also awarded the entire task force the Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon &quot;in recognition of the collective performance of the contingent.&quot;</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/6/4/navy-pcg-ships-depart-for-world-s-largest-maritime-war-games-1230"><strong>Navy, PCG ships depart for world’s largest maritime war games</strong><br/></a></div><p>The Coast Guard said the contingent participated in maritime interdiction operations, search and rescue, humanitarian assistance and disaster response, explosive ordnance disposal training, cross-deck operations, and combined maritime maneuvers at RIMPAC 2026.</p>
