Paolo Duterte called out Atty. Lorna Kapunan, counsel for the impeachment prosecution, Wednesday for saying his family has contributed to a “culture of violence” in the country. </p><p>Asked about the school shooting at Ateneo de Zamboanga, Kapunan said Vice President Sara Duterte&#x27;s alleged threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the alleged extrajudicial killings during the presidency of Rodrigo Duterte are part of a culture of violence.</p><p>Kapunan also said a slow justice system and lack of values education in school may have contributed to the problem. </p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/8/19/-dapat-mabilis-ang-proseso-vp-sara-hopes-for-speedy-impeachment-trial-1357"><strong>‘Dapat mabilis ang proseso’: Sara Duterte hopes for speedy impeachment trial</strong></a></div><p>“Hindi lang ang vice president ang sinasabi kong responsible (I&#x27;m not saying the vice president is solely responsible). I am saying that she certainly is contributing to the problem and not to the solution,” the lawyer said.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>&#x27;ANTI-DUTERTE NARRATIVE&#x27;</strong></div><p>In a statement, the vice president’s brother told Kapunan not to use the tragedy for her “anti-Duterte” narrative.</p><p>“Ang nangyari sa Ateneo de Zamboanga ay isang krimen na kailangang imbestigahan at panagutin ang mga responsable  — not another episode ng impeachment propaganda,” he said. </p><p>(What happened at Ateneo de Zamboanga is a crime that must be investigated and those responsible must be held accountable.)</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2026/8/18/shooting-incident-reported-inside-zamboanga-city-school-0934"><strong>Two dead in Ateneo de Zamboanga shooting </strong></a> </div><p>He said Kapunan should just show the evidence and prove the prosecution&#x27;s case.</p><p>The Davao City solon also responded to the Akbayan Party’s statement challenging the vice president to “show up” at the impeachment trial for a speedy trial.</p><p>Rep.
