ABS-CBN News </span></span></span></div><p>MANILA <strong>(UPDATE)</strong> — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday said that Metro Manila would soon have 13 additional pumping stations either by the end of the year or early 2027 to help solve the capital region’s flooding woes.</p><p>Marcos Jr. gave the statement after inspecting the Tripa de Gallina Pumping Station in Pasay City, one of the largest pumping stations in the National Capital Region.</p><p>“Because of climate change, because of the increase in volume of rainfall that has been coming to the Philippines and will come in the future, we are installing additional pumping stations, and those pumping stations are in and around Manila,” Marcos Jr. told reporters on the sidelines of the inspection.</p><p>“I think altogether we will have 13 additional pumping stations which we should have in place by the end of this year or the beginning of next year. Most of them should be in place already,” he said.</p><p>Of this number 4 will be built from scratch while the rest will be through upgrades of existing facilities, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) chairperson Romando Artes said.</p><p>While the Tripa de Gallina station has a pumping capacity of 56-cubic meters per second, the facility still needs to be aided by other water routes as it also tends to be clogged, the MMDA chairman said.</p><p>“Dahil sa lakas ng capacity niya, humihigop po talaga siya ng iba’t ibang klase ng basura.
