Michael &quot;Mikee&quot; Romero, a reserve brigadier general, said he relinquished his dutied as wing commander of the Philippine Air Force Tactical Operations Wing Reserve Northern Luzon and retired from the AFP Reserve Force on August 19.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/8/18/paf-reviews-reserve-force-policies-on-awards-badges-amid-stolen-valor-issue-1717">PH Air Force reviews reserve force policies on awards, badges amid &#x27;stolen valor&#x27; issue</a></div>He said he welcomes the AFP&#x27;s review of its policies on reservists and reiterated that he was authorized to wear the medals, decorations, badges and distinctions on his uniform. Romero, a former senior deputy House speaker, had pushed passage of bills to increase the salaries and benefits of uniformed personnel and for funding to buy three Lockheed Martin C-130J transport planes for the Philippine Air Force.He was also chair of the Association of Reservists and Reservist Administrators of the Philippines.A recent photo of Romero in a PAF uniform beside Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of staff Gen. Antonio Nafarrete went viral online, with active and former uniformed personnel questioning the number of the reservists&#x27; medals and badges.“My service in uniform may come to an end,” Romero said in a press statement. “My duty to our people, our sovereignty, our flag, and our country will endure.”
