Simon Wohlfahrt, AFP/File</div>MANILA — Around 2,000 of the 7,000 pieces of evidence submitted by the prosecution against former president Rodrigo Duterte in the International Criminal Court (ICC) are &quot;incriminating,&quot; Assistant to Counsel Kristina Conti said on Sunday.Speaking on DZMM Teleradyo, Conti says the public must not be overwhelmed with the volume of evidence, as a bigger number of around 5,000 are &quot;neutral background information&quot; evidence that just needed to be disclosed. There were also a few pieces of evidence that are &quot;potentially exonerating,&quot; which may help the defense team of the accused.&quot;Yung bilang, 7000, parang wow ang dami. Noong pre-trial stage, nagkaroon sila ng two tranches o dalawang bigayan,&quot; Conti said.&quot;Ganoon din parang nag-aakusa, yung inaakusahan, kung may ebidensya, ipakita mo rin sa kabila,&quot; she added.Aside from the two panels, the victims&#x27; side also has the opportunity to submit their own evidence. Conti says submission of evidence from the prosecution side is scheduled only until August 31, while the victims may submit evidence until September, and the defense until October.She also said that the nature of ICC trial is inquisitorial and not adversarial, which means that for the sake of fairness, even the potentially exonerating evidence should be presented.Most of the evidence are documentary evidence, which includes testimonies that has been reduced into writing, such as affidavits or transcripts of interviews.Aside from documents, there are also demonstrative evidence like photos and videos.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/8/20/icc-prosecution-discloses-almost-7-000-items-of-evidence-to-duterte-defense-1906">ICC prosecution discloses almost 7,000 items of evidence to Duterte defense</a> </div>&quot;Yung demonstrative evidence may also include videos, photos, charts, katulad nung ginawa dati nung prosecution, medyo may itsura na tayo ng kung anong ebidensya nila diba?&quot; Conti said. &quot;Yung mapa ng Pilipinas tapos may susulpot na, ganito karami ang nangyaring patayan dito. Nagpakita rin sila ng flow chart, parang hierarchy na parang ganito yung instruction system galing sa taas,&quot; she added.Conti says there will be hearings in September 16 where all parties will meet to discuss the pre-trial brief, including thr fitness to stand trial of the former President.The trial of the former president starts November 30.
