Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Residents clear trash from a flooded alley in Barangay Damayang Lagi, Quezon City, on August 19, 2026. <em>Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA -- Nearly 6.9 million people across the country were affected by the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and Tropical Cyclones Luis, Maymay, and Neneng, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).</p><p>In its latest situational report on Sunday, August 23, the NDRRMC said 2,015,897 families, or 6,913,577 individuals, were affected by the weather disturbances.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2026/8/23/saudel-to-enter-par-as-super-typhoon-on-monday-to-enhance-habagat-later-next-week-1452"><strong>&#x27;Saudel&#x27; to enter PAR as super typhoon on Monday, to enhance Habagat later next week</strong></a></div><p>Of the total, 12,494 families or 42,422 individuals are staying inside 505 evacuation centers, while 15,920 families, or 63,101 people, are receiving assistance outside evacuation facilities.</p><p>The agency also reported 2,324 damaged houses in Region 1, the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Region 3, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and Region 6.</p><p>Damage to infrastructure has reached 1,104 reported structures, with estimated losses totaling P4.89 billion, affecting the same regions.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/8/22/p1-09b-worth-of-aid-extended-to-habagat-cyclone-affected-families-2226"><strong>P1.09B worth of aid extended to habagat, cyclone-affected families </strong></a> </div><p>The NDRRMC has recorded 29 deaths, although only five have been validated while 24 remain under verification. It also reported 17 injured persons, with 11 validated and six still undergoing validation, as well as two missing individuals, whose cases are also being verified.</p><div> </div>
