Courtesy: Syrel Jateco- Traquena "/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Scenes from the vehicular crash in Antipolo involving Niño Muhlach. <em>Courtesy: Syrel Jateco- Traquena </em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — Actor Niño Muhlach has admitted that he fell asleep while driving, leading to a road accident in Antipolo City that left one person injured and damaged several establishments.</p><p>In an official statement released Monday, Muhlach clarified that the earlier information attributing the crash to a possible mechanical failure came from the preliminary police investigation and was not based on his own statement.</p><p>Muhlach said he was driving himself on Sunday, August 23, as his regular driver was on a scheduled day off.</p><p>He explained that he had been dealing with an &quot;extremely demanding and exhausting schedule&quot; when he fell asleep behind the wheel.</p><p>He acknowledged that fatigue was &quot;no excuse&quot; and said he was taking full personal and legal responsibility for the incident.</p><p>The accident happened along Marcos Highway in Barangay Mayamot, Antipolo, where Muhlach&#x27;s SUV hit a bystander who was eating at a roadside eatery.</p><p>The vehicle also struck a parked motorcycle and damaged nearby establishments, including a sari-sari store and a barber shop.</p><p>The injured bystander was brought to a hospital for medical attention.</p><p>Muhlach said his priority is to ensure that the victim receives the necessary medical care and support, while also compensating for the damage caused to the affected properties.</p><p>&quot;I am deeply sorry to the victim, their family, and everyone affected by my negligence,&quot; Muhlach said, adding that he is fully cooperating with authorities as the incident is being resolved.</p><p>The police investigation into the incident is ongoing.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>WATCH:</strong></div><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="960" height="540" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/c8VgYCdTUYE?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div>
