Arla Ray Pacencia, whose gun was used in the June 22 school shooting incident, the Department of Justice said Tuesday.</div><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/7/1/cop-who-owns-gun-used-in-tacloban-school-shooting-faces-senate-probe-1221">Cop says Tacloban school shooter ‘unlawfully’ entered her house, ‘forcibly damaged’ locker to get gun</a></div><p>&quot;The DOJ trusts that the criminal process will proceed in accordance with the rules on due process for all parties concerned,&quot; DOJ spokesperson Polo Martinez said in a statement.</p><p>The June 22 attack at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City left three students dead.</p><p>The DOJ noted that the recommendation was the result of the preliminary investigation conducted on the complaint filed by parents and students of San Jose National High School.</p><p>&quot;The corresponding Information will be filed with the Family Court, Regional Trial Court of Tacloban City,&quot; Martinez said.</p><p>The Philippine National Police welcomed the recommendation to file criminal charges against Pacencia.</p><p>PCol. Allen Rae Co, PNP Public Information Office chief, said the case should serve as a reminder to all registered gun owners, particularly police officers and other law enforcement personnel, to properly secure their firearms.</p><p>He said gun ownership is a privilege that comes with responsibility.</p><p>&quot;Kagaya po nito, nakakalungkot na siguro wala namang intensyon ‘yung may-ari ng baril, ‘yung ating policewoman, na magamit ito sa ganitong karumal-dumal na insidente.
