Pabalate, PPA pool/File</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DWSD) has requested the replenishment of its Quick Response Fund (QRF) from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) amid the recent effects of successive typhoons and the southwest monsoon or habagat.</p><p>DSWD Assistant Secretary and spokesperson Irene Dumlao said the agency continues to replenish its stockpiles amid recent disaster response operations.</p><div><a class="fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/8/18/dswd-extends-over-p717-million-worth-of-assistance-to-victims-of-recent-typhoons-habagat-1548"><strong>DSWD: P717-million aid given to typhoon, habagat victims</strong></a></div><p>The Quick Response Fund serves as a standby fund that agencies like the DSWD can immediately tap for relief and rehabilitation programs during calamities. It may later be replenished from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund once the balance reaches 50 percent, subject to guidelines set by the Office of Civil Defense and the DBM.</p><p>“So far, ang national stockpile natin ay nasa mahigit 3.7 million family food packs at ‘yan ay naka-preposition sa iba’t ibang warehouses sa ating bansa. And araw-araw, nagpo-produce ang amin pong Luzon Disaster Resource Center at Visayas Disaster Resource Center ng mga family food packs na siyang pinadapadala natin sa atin pong mga warehouses nang sa gayon, nare-replenish ‘yong mga stockpile natin na amin pong nadi-distribute,” Dumlao said.</p><p>Data from the agency as of 6 p.m. on August 25 showed that it had already distributed 1.9 million family food packs, 14,657 non-food items, and 23,508 ready-to-eat foods in areas affected by Luis, Maymay, Neneng, and the enhanced habagat.</p><div><a class="fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/8/22/p1-09b-worth-of-aid-extended-to-habagat-cyclone-affected-families-2226"><strong>P1.09B worth of aid extended to habagat, cyclone-affected families</strong></a></div><p>The distribution was made based on the augmentation requests of local governments in the National Capital Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, and Zamboanga Peninsula.</p><p>“Ang DSWD ay patuloy na nakikipag-ugnayan sa mga local partners natin para augment ‘yong kanilang resounces at agaran nating matugonan ang pangangailangan ng ating mga kababayan,” Dumlao said.</p><p>According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, the affected population due to the weather disturbances has reached 2.2 million families or 7.7 million individuals.</p><p>At least 346 evacuation centers remain activated, housing 8,446 families or 28,910 individuals due to damage brought by the weather systems and continued flooding.</p><div><br/></div><div>  </div>
