(UPDATED) A commuter captured in a viral video of water leaking inside an LRT-1 railway carriage on Monday, August 24. The video showed water dripping from the ceiling of the carriage.“So natutulog ako ng mahimbing pag gising ko basa na yung buhok ko? pati ba naman sa loob ng bagon binabagyo ako?,” the commuter said in her Facebook post.The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) said it had the carriage checked immediately on the same day and found that the leak was not caused by rain, but by a blocked air-conditioning drainage system.“Based doon sa findings, nakita ng mga tao namin na barado. Barado yung drainage. So ibig sabihin, napabayaan na linisin yung drainage system. Kaya nung nagbara, wala nang mapupuntahan yung tubig kundi doon sa loob mismo ng tren. So hindi siya tubig ulan,” LRTA Administrator Hernando Cabrera said. The LRTA added that the maintenance of the trains falls under the obligation of the private concessionaire, Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC).“And then, secondly, yung operations and maintenance ng LRT Line 1 is already privatized. So, ang may obligation ng operations and maintenance ng LRT Line 1 system into the trains is yung concessionaire, which is Light Rail Manila Corporation,” Cabrera added.In a statement published on Thursday, August 27, LRMC said its Maintenance Team immediately monitored the affected LRV, and a technician boarded the train to inspect the issue.“Following the technician’s recommendation, the train was promptly removed from the revenue line and brought to the depot for a comprehensive assessment,” it added.LRMC also said it will enhance it maintenance protocols to help prevent similar occurrence in the future.<div> </div><div> </div>
