<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/178781919520020260826-senate-vp-sara-impeachment-day19-MT11.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Some members of the House prosecution panel on August 26, 2026. <em>Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — There are members of the prosecution panel in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte who may let go of their duties as prosecutor and instead act as spokesperson for the panel, following the Senate court&#x27;s sub judice ruling, a House spokesperson said Thursday.</p><p>Trial presiding officer Francis Escudero on Wednesday said that the Senate impeachment court would <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/8/26/impeachment-court-to-strictly-enforce-sub-judice-rule-vs-trial-by-publicity-1103">strictly enforce the sub judice rule</a>, which bars counsels for both parties from discussing the merits of an ongoing case.</p><p>Escudero again reminded parties to the case to designate a spokesperson that would not also act as a counsel in the trial, noting that some potential violations to the sub judice rule occurred after his advice.</p><p>&quot;Since that advice has not been fully observed, the chair now finds it necessary to restate and strictly enforce those restrictions,&quot; he said</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/8/27/gatchalian-backs-sub-judice-ruling-says-all-including-vp-sara-should-follow-1556">Gatchalian supports sub judice ruling, says all, including VP Sara, should follow</a></div><p>Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong, one of the spokespersons for the House prosecution panel, said the matter is being discussed by the prosecution team.</p><p>&quot;Definitely may possibility na may mga nakaupong prosecutors ngayon ang maaaring magbitiw ng kanilang posisyon bilang miyembro ng prosecution panel at mag-act na lang as isa sa spokesperson,&quot; he said, adding that the prosecution may add more spokespersons.</p><p>Rep.
