Jeremy Lotoc has been designated the agency’s regional director for Eastern Visayas, where authorities are also investigating the recent shooting at a school in Tacloban City.</p><p>Lotoc confirmed his new assignment to ABS-CBN News, saying an order transferring him to Region 8 had been issued even before he testified at the Senate impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.</p><p>“[D]ahil sa shooting incident sa San Jose [National High School],” Lotoc said.</p><p>(Because of the shooting incident in San Jose.)</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/8/25/-cop-who-owns-gun-used-in-tacloban-school-shooting-to-face-criminal-raps-doj-1110"><strong>Cop who owns gun used in Tacloban school shooting to face criminal raps—DOJ<br/></strong></a></div><p>In a Facebook post, Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez said he met with Lotoc during a courtesy call and discussed measures to make Eastern Visayas more peaceful and secure.</p><p>“One of the things that I highlighted to the new director is the need to strengthen the advocacy for responsible gun safety and ownership,” Romualdez said.</p><p>The mayor also cited the need to strengthen cybersecurity measures in government agencies and other initiatives aimed at maintaining peace and order in the region.</p><p>Lotoc previously served as chief of the NBI Cybercrime Division before becoming regional director for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.</p><p>He recently drew national attention after appearing as a prosecution witness in Vice President Sara Duterte&#x27;s impeachment trial at the Senate.</p><p>He testified about the NBI&#x27;s investigation into Duterte&#x27;s remarks during an online briefing in November 2024, which included an alleged threat against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.</p><div><a class="fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/7/13/nbi-exec-jeremy-lotoc-testifies-before-senate-impeachment-court-1514">NBI exec says Duterte&#x27;s alleged grave threats &#x27;serious and real&#x27;</a></div><p>During the proceedings, Lotoc said the NBI had treated the statements as serious and credible, although the bureau was unable to establish validated information identifying the alleged hitman Duterte supposedly contracted.</p><div><a class="fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/7/13/still-no-trace-of-sara-duterte-s-alleged-contracted-hitman-nbi-says-2059">Still no trace of Sara Duterte’s alleged contracted hitman, NBI says</a></div><p>The NBI&#x27;s official website now lists Lotoc as the regional director of its Eastern Visayas Regional Office in Tacloban City.</p>
