Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News/File"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla takes his oath as the new Ombudsman before Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen in Manila on Wednesday, October 9, 2025. <em>Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News/File</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — The Office of the Ombudsman will conduct an inventory of individuals convicted by the Sandiganbayan to check whether they are in jail or not.</p><p>In his show Executive Session on DZRH on Saturday, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla said the Sandiganbayan has sentenced several individuals but only a few were imprisoned.</p><p>&quot;Ang problema, medyo sobrang bait ng korte at hindi ginagawa &#x27;yung trabaho na ipakulong &#x27;yung dapat ipinapakulong. Grant sila nang grant ng bail. Ang baba pa ng piyansa. Dapat kasi diyan &#x27;pag na-convict &#x27;yung tao at talagang nagpe-petition for bail, ang bail should be set — if ever kung iga-grant mo &#x27;yan — at the cost of damage na ginawa ng tao,&quot; the Ombudsman explained.</p><p>&quot;Kasi pinapapiyansa pa nila, na-convict na. Ganu&#x27;n madalas. He is looking forward to having deadlines set for the judiciary.</p><p>&quot;Ang problema… basta&#x27;t nagkaroon ng motion for reconsideration o ng grant of bail, parang walang deadline ang judiciary,&quot; he said. &quot;Syempre may mga rules sila na dapat sinusunod, hihingi sila ng permiso, papa-extend nila.
