Jalosjos Sr. passed away on Sunday afternoon at the age of 85, his son announced.&quot;It is with profound sorrow and heavy hearts that our family announces the passing of our beloved father, Romeo &#x27;Nonong&#x27; Garcia Jalosjos,&quot; his son, former Dapitan City Mayor Seth Frederick Jalosjos, said in a Facebook post.&quot;While we grieve his passing, we also celebrate a life lived with extraordinary purpose,&quot; he added. &quot;His legacy cannot be measured by the offices he held or the accomplishments he achieved, but by the countless lives he touched, the hope he gave, and the enduring impact of his kindness and service.&quot;Jalosjos entered politics in 1984, winning a seat as representative of Zamboanga del Norte. His term was cut short in 1986 following the People Power Revolution and the abolition of the Regular Batasang Pambansa under President Corazon Aquino. He returned to Congress in 1995, serving as the representative of the 1st District of Zamboanga del Norte until April 2002.Before venturing into politics, Jalosjos built a career in television production. He co-founded the Philippine Production Center, Inc. and helped establish Production Specialists, Inc. He also produced major programs such as Binibining Pilipinas, other beauty pageants, and games of the Philippine Basketball Association. In 1981, he founded Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE Inc.) alongside Tony Tuviera and Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon collectively known as TVJ, who went on to produce the noontime show Eat Bulaga!Jalosjos was charged with rape of an 11-year-old girl in 1996, which he denied. He was convicted on two counts of statutory rape, which the Supreme Court upheld in 2002, leading to his removal from the House of Representatives. According to his son, the late congressman will lie in state at The Heritage Park in Taguig City from August 3 to 5. His remains will then be brought to Dapitan from August 6 to 12.
