Terry Ridon said on Monday, August 3.</p><p>Duterte left for an overseas trip last July 21, her office said. Jay Tolosa said Duterte&#x27;s presence at the impeachment trial would demonstrate her respect for the constitutional process.</p><p>&quot;It also shows yung respect towards this not just the impeachment court but this constitutional process so abangan natin, tingnan natin kung anong magiging aksyon at hakbang na gagawin niya dito,&quot; he said during the lunch break briefing on Monday.</p><p>Ridon also questioned Duterte&#x27;s foreign travels, raising concerns over how the trips were financed.</p><p>&quot;The Vice President has been out of the country from 2025 to 2026 for 91 days. Pag cinalculate po natin malaki yung gastos na ito para sa kanya pong mga biyahe. Ito po ay around 8 million (pesos) pinagsamang flights, pang-araw araw na gastos batay po sa United Nations Daily Subsistence Allowance,&quot; he explained.</p><p>Duterte has previously said that all of her travel expenses were paid using her personal funds. Ridon, however, questioned the source of those private funds.</p><p>&quot;She has to explain where the private funds are coming from.&quot;</p><p>This is not the first time that the House prosecutors urged the vice president to make a personal appearance before the impeachment court.</p><p>Last July 25, Ridon said Duterte should personally attend the impeachment trial, citing the example of late former Chief Justice Renato Corona, who regularly appeared before the impeachment court during his 2012 trial.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/7/25/house-prosecutor-urges-vp-sara-to-personally-appear-at-impeachment-trial-1505">READ: House prosecutor urges VP Sara to personally appear at impeachment trial</a></div>
