Lyza Aquino, ABS-CBN News"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Parts of Metro Manila, Rizal and Bulacan remain flooded as of August 30, 2026. <em>Lyza Aquino, ABS-CBN News</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA -- Flooding continued to affect several areas in Rizal, Bulacan, and Metro Manila on Sunday, as residents in some communities remained in evacuation centers following days of heavy rains.</p><p>In Malabon City, large portions of the area remained submerged on Sunday, forcing hundreds of families to stay in evacuation centers. </p><p>Despite the flooding, some residents continued with their daily activities.</p><p>In Barangay Santulan, carinderia owner Mary Rose Salvador continued selling cooked meals even as floodwaters remained outside her establishment. Instead of her usual 12 dishes, Salvador prepared only six on Sunday due to the flooding.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2026/8/30/flooding-persists-in-5-bataan-towns-over-5-000-residents-remain-in-evacuation-centers-1901"><strong>Flooding persists in 5 Bataan towns; over 5,000 residents remain in evacuation centers</strong></a></div><p>&quot;Ngayong tag-ulan medyo mahina kasi baha. Inabot din kami dito eh kahapon. Ngayon lang bumaha,&quot; Salvador said. &quot;Wala, lugi syempre pero kailangan mag-open kasi marami ring naghahanap. Pero kalahati lang… kahapon 6 lang, eh usually ang ulam ko ay 12.&quot;</p><p>Salvador said her family has no plans to evacuate, as they are still &quot;okay.&quot;</p><p>Meanwhile, 59-year-old resident Rosemarie Vicquiera braved the floodwaters to buy groceries and necessities for her grandchildren.</p><p>She said they were running out of supplies and wanted to stock up on food and household essentials in case floodwaters might rise again.</p><p>&quot;Mga sabon panlaba at pagkain ng mga bata. Wala na kaming suplay, eh baka lumaki pa ulit ito eh dapat may stock. Mga delata, ilang piraso, sabon at biscuit ng mga bata. Dalawang pamilya kami,&quot; she said.</p><p>However, other residents have yet to return home. </p><p>The Co family has been staying at an evacuation center in Barangay Panghulo for two days because of the flooding.</p><p>The family said the father has a prostate condition and uses a catheter, while they also have a baby to care for. They are appealing for assistance, particularly medicines and help repairing their house, which has been repeatedly damaged by flooding. </p><p>“Bale po dalawang araw na kami dito. Malapit na pong umakyat sa taas namin, ang taas-taas po talaga ng lahat ng gamit namin pero nabaha po. Ang taas po kaagad bigla,” said Estroluna Co.</p><div><a class="fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2026/8/30/2-dead-2-injured-in-landslide-at-subic-bay-freeport-zone-1540"><strong>2 dead, 2 injured in landslide at Subic Bay Freeport Zone</strong></a></div><p>More than 600 families are staying in various evacuation centers across Malabon. </p><p>The local government has distributed food, clothing, medicines, hygiene kits, and sleeping kits to evacuees. Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said thousands of residents have been evacuated, with flooding also affecting several roads because of high tide in the city’s waterways.</p><p>“Nakapagbigay po kami ng mga food packs at hot meals. So, sa bawat evacuation center, meron po tayong mga health desk. So, kumpleto po sila sa gamot, doxycycline, at meron pong mga namamahala sa bawat, may hygiene kits rin po tayo, sleeping kits, medical stations,” Sandoval added.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>11-YO BOY DIES IN VALENZUELA</strong></div><div><strong><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="960" height="540" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/e7UKDa8_bZE?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span></strong></div><p>In Valenzuela City, an 11-year-old boy died after falling into a creek in Barangay Canumay West while playing with a friend during the heavy rains on Saturday afternoon.</p><p>According to Valenzuela City Mayor Wes Gatchalian, the boy and his friend were playing at a bridge near the creek when the water level was already high. </p><p>“Naglalaro sa gilid ng creek at medyo mataas na po yung tubig noon sa may Barangay Canumay West. May creek po talaga at the other day mataas na po ang tubig dyan may dumaan po na truck, nahulog po sila. Yung isang kaibigan niya buhay po, ay siya ang naging eye witness po namin,” he said.</p><div><a class="fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2026/8/29/agana-bridge-sa-tarlac-city-bumagsak-sasakyang-may-5-sakay-kasama-sa-nahulog-2329"><strong>Agana Bridge sa Tarlac City, bumagsak; sasakyang may 5 sakay kasama sa nahulog</strong></a></div><p>The city government has opened 42 evacuation centers for residents living in flood-prone areas.</p><p>Meanwhile n Quezon City, flooding has subsided in many areas, but more than 6,000 families spent the night in various evacuation centers across the city.</p><p>In Bulacan, widespread flooding persisted due to overflowing rivers, including the Marilao and Pampanga Rivers.</p><p>According to the Bulacan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, nearly all municipalities were affected by the heavy rains, with coastal areas among the hardest hit. </p><p>Retired Colonel Manny Lukban, chief of the Bulacan PDRRMO, said communities near the Pampanga River Basin were particularly affected.</p><p>“Sa kalagayan naman ng ating mga nabaha o dahil sa lakas ng pag-ulan nito simula pa kahapon, ay talaga namang naapektuhan ang halos lahat ng ating mga bayan, lalo na yung mga coastal areas tulad ng Malolos, Calumpit, Hagonoy, Paombong, Bulakan, Bulacan ang mga tunay na naapektuhan ito lalo na dun sa nanggagaling na tubig sa Pampanga River Basin.” </p><p>Nearly 5,000 families remain in evacuation centers across the province.</p><p>Lukban said the number of evacuees surged as flooding worsened.</p><p>“Sa pangkalahatan po natin, dahil simula kahapon po, maniniwala po ba kayo na mula 5,000 plus lang po sana tayo, kahapon po ay biglang nag-balloon po ito ng 17,387 individual po as of last counting po natin. Kagabi po hanggang sa pangkasalukuyan.”</p><div><a class="fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2026/8/29/phivolcs-issues-lahar-advisory-for-pinatubo-taal-amid-habagat-rains-1224"><strong>Phivolcs issues lahar advisory for Pinatubo, Taal amid Habagat rains</strong></a></div><p>Several establishments and landmarks were also affected, including the historic Barasoain Church in Malolos, which was inundated by floodwaters. </p><div><br/></div><div><strong>VAN SWEPT AWAY IN RIZAL</strong></div><p>In Rodriguez, Rizal, a van was swept into a creek after being stranded and carried away by raging floodwaters in Barangay San Isidro on Saturday night.</p><p>Around 1,800 families from eight barangays in the municipality evacuated to various evacuation centers. </p><p>Authorities also immediately cleared major roads in Rodriguez, allowing motorists to pass through again by around 6 a.m. Sunday.</p>
