<p>MANILA — Nearly 1.9 tons of allegedly smuggled meat products, mostly from China, were seized by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) of the Department of Agriculture from a warehouse in Parañaque City on Tuesday.</p><p>The operation yielded about 1,870 kilograms of meat and other animal products, including chicken, pork, Peking duck and exotic softshell turtles.</p><p>Authorities also found meat reportedly sourced from Australia but lacking the necessary import permits and documentation.</p><p>The products were allegedly being stored at a warehouse identified as Jabaa Fresh Agriculture Corporation and had not undergone the required inspection and regulatory procedures of the NMIS.</p><div style="text-align:center"><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?height=314&amp;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Freel%2F807636975710295%2F&amp;show_text=false&amp;width=560&amp;t=0" width="560" height="314" style="border-width:medium;border-style:none;border-color:currentcolor;border-image:none;overflow:hidden;--darkreader-inline-border-top:0px;--darkreader-inline-border-right:0px;--darkreader-inline-border-bottom:0px;--darkreader-inline-border-left:0px" scrolling="no" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" data-darkreader-inline-border-top="" data-darkreader-inline-border-right="" data-darkreader-inline-border-bottom="" data-darkreader-inline-border-left=""></iframe><br/></div><p>Fernando Lontoc, officer-in-charge executive director of the NMIS, said the operation stemmed from surveillance conducted by the NBI.</p><p>&quot;Nagkaroon ng surveillance ang NBI in coordination with NMIS noong July 27. Nagka-positive, after nilang pasukin iyong warehouse, almost one hour ay rumesponde na ang ating NMIS team,&quot; Lontoc said.</p><p>The NMIS said the products could not be traced through the proper regulatory system and had not been inspected before being brought into the country.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/7/21/p23-million-worth-of-misdeclared-frozen-products-seized-at-manila-port-1424">P23-million worth of misdeclared frozen products seized at Manila port</a></div><p>Under Philippine regulations, only licensed meat importers may bring meat into the Philippines, and imported meat must come from countries or foreign meat establishments accredited by the Department of Agriculture.</p><p>According to the NMIS, there are currently no accredited meat establishments in China authorized to export meat to the Philippines. Thus, meat products originating from China cannot be legally imported into the country under the existing restrictions.</p><p>At least five Chinese and Filipino nationals were arrested during the operation and brought into the custody of the NBI-National Capital Region.</p><p>The NMIS is also looking into the possibility that the seized products could have a total estimated value of up to P200 million, although the final valuation remains subject to further assessment.</p><p>Lontoc urged consumers to be cautious when buying imported meat, particularly products that are sold outside established and regulated channels.</p><p>&quot;Mag-ingat po tayo sa pagbili, lalo na iyong ganyan na hindi ina-allow sa atin na mga produkto.
