Pedestrians and motorists brave the rain along Diokno Boulevard in Pasay City on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, as Tropical Storm Maymay  and the enhanced southwest monsoon (Habagat) continue to bring moderate to heavy rains over Metro Manila. Tropical Storm Maymay is forecast to enhance the southwest monsoon today until tomorrow, prompting PAGASA to issue heavy rainfall warnings in various parts of Luzon.

Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News</div>MANILA -- Over 200,000 families have been affected by the flooding brought by the torrential rains during the past few days.Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Asec. Irene Dumlao said they continue to monitor the effects of the southwest monsoon and typhoons Luis and Maymay that displaced a huge number of families across the country.<div><a class="fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/8/9/2-424-classrooms-damaged-by-habagat-rains-says-deped-1745">2,424 classrooms damaged by habagat rains, says DepEd </a> </div>&quot;As of 6 p.m. ang namonitor nating affected families ay nasa 220,000 na pamilya,&quot; said Dumlao in an interview over TV Patrol.&quot;Currently there are more than 400 activated evacuation centers sa iba&#x27;t ibang bahagi ng ating bansa na kung saan 9,000 pamilya ang nanunuluyan,&quot; she added.She said they monitored more than 3,000 families staying outside the evacuation centers and temporarily living with their relatives.The DSWD also distributed over 46,000 family food packs and is prepare to distribute more in cooperation with the local government units.The medicines, meanwhile, will be provided by the Department of Health, she said.<div><a class="fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2026/8/9/enhanced-monsoon-rains-due-to-typhoon-dolphin-trigger-flooding-in-ph-1856">Enhanced monsoon rains due to typhoon Dolphin trigger flooding in PH</a></div>&quot;Kapag may pangangailangan na ganyan agad nating naipapaabot ang impormasyon sa DOH,&quot; said Dumlao.&quot;Tinitiyak po ang kahandaan ng DSWD, araw araw po nagpoproduce ang aming production hubs ng food packs.
