JV Ejercito bared Tuesday, adding that the government will prioritize completing unfinished projects and addressing existing gaps. </p><p>“No new projects, complete all the uncompleted projects and close the gaps,” Ejercito said on Tuesday, September 1.</p><p>Ejercito added that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) should base its budget requests on a national flood control “masterplan.”</p><p>“Doon naman sa flood control, as long as, we adhere to the requirements to prevent corruption and to make sure that those projects are really needed to mitigate flooding, then we will be approving that,” he said.</p><p>This comes as flooding affected parts of Central Luzon and Metro Manila in recent months due to rains brought by the strengthened habagat.</p><p>DPWH is seeking P83.84 billion for<a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/8/26/dpwh-seeks-p83-84-billion-for-locally-funded-flood-control-says-no-leadership-fund-in-2027-1538"> locally funded flood control projects </a>next year.</p><p>Ejercito said the Finance Committee will still closely scrutinize this budget proposal during the succeeding committee hearings.</p><p>“That’s why we conduct budget hearings...
