<p>MANILA &mdash; Sen. Panfilo &ldquo;Ping&rdquo; Lacson on Sunday fired back after Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano described his investigation into the alleged anomalies in flood-control projects in Taguig City &ldquo;like a striptease.&rdquo;&nbsp;</p><p>Lacson, a former national police chief, said a probe into a corruption case should be deliberate, thorough and not done in haste.&nbsp;</p><p>Cayetano, in a Facebook live broadcast Friday, likened Lacson&rsquo;s supposed slow release of corruption allegations in his bailiwick to a &ldquo;striptease&rdquo; with no real evidence.</p><p>Lacson, in response, said in an X post that Cayetanos&#39; remark showed ignorance of how investigations into &quot;sophisticated corruption cases&quot; work.&nbsp;</p><p>&quot;It must be deliberate, methodical and thorough; not hasty nor sloppy,&quot; he said.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/9/5/-ghost-hunt-that-cayetano-mocked-yielded-real-ghost-projects-says-lacson-2031">&lsquo;Ghost hunt&rsquo; that Cayetano mocked yielded real ghost projects, says Lacson</a></div><p>Lacson noted his team has submitted to the Office of the Ombudsman at least 45 case studies backed by official documents detailing &ldquo;systemic anomalies&rdquo; in flood control infrastructure projects.</p><p>The former chair Blue Ribbon Committee, which probed the flood control corruption scandal, also stressed the importance of going where the evidence leads, instead of obstructing it.&nbsp;</p><p>This after Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla said that Taguig City Hall personnel tried to prevent his team from conducting its investigation Friday.&nbsp;</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/9/3/ombudsman-looking-into-taguig-infrastructure-claims-1343">Ombudsman looking into Taguig infrastructure claims</a></div><div><br></div><div><strong>CAYETANO: FLOOD CONTROL IN TAGUIG PROGRESSED</strong></div><p>Cayetano, meanwhile, claimed during Taguig&#39;s 8th City Council Legislators&rsquo; Night last Friday that the city&#39;s flood control has improved.</p><p>&ldquo;Malayo na ang narating ng flood control sa Taguig,&rdquo; Cayetano, who is married to city mayor Lani Cayetano, said. &ldquo;Dati three to four months, hanggang leeg.&rdquo; &nbsp;</p><p>(Flood control has progressed well in Taguig. Flooding used to be at neck level for three to four months)</p><p>He also told Taguig City officials to treat criticisms as a challenge to improve Taguig.&nbsp;</p><p>&ldquo;Let&rsquo;s be upset if it&rsquo;s a witch hunt, if it&rsquo;s a demolition job,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;But let&rsquo;s take it as an inspiration when people want us to do better.&rdquo;&nbsp;</p><p>Cayetano has repeatedly said Lacson is mounting a &ldquo;demolition job&rdquo; and &ldquo;witch hunt&rdquo; against Taguig projects. &nbsp;</p><p>Lacson earlier claimed at least <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2026/8/31/lacson-claims-p3-7-b-public-funds-wasted-on-laguna-lake-illegal-reclamation-1825">P3.7 billion in public funds&nbsp;</a>were wasted on &quot;illegal&quot; reclamation along Taguig City&rsquo;s area of Laguna Lake.</p><p>This excludes the allegedly anomalous flood mitigation projects along Taguig River, which Lacson said involve double appropriations and &ldquo;ghost&rdquo; projects.</p><div><br></div><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO:</strong></div><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/UBLyS3k7k_Q?si=5NKJqdFitN6qfmSI" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div>
