At least three people died in separate drowning incidents in Camarines Sur over the weekend as the shearline spawned heavy rains.

In Ragay town, a 39-year-old man drowned on Saturday afternoon after he tried to retrieve his jacket while crossing the PNR Binahan Bridge. His body was recovered on Monday morning.

In another incident, two senior citizens were swept away by strong currents on Sunday morning while crossing an overflowing spillway in Cabusao town.

Cabusao Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management officer Jose Reyes said that the bodies were found within four hours of each other on Monday morning and at least 50 meters away from the Biong Spillway.

“Iyong sasakyan daw nila, biglang kumaliwa daw sila dahil sa agos ng tubig tsaka sila nahulog sa kalsada,” he added.

Two other individuals who were swept away managed to save themselves and were recovering.

The shearline is an area where warm and cold air meet. On Monday, it will bring scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms in Metro Manila, Mimaropa, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Western Visayas, Isabela, Quirino, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, and Bulacan, state weather bureau PAGASA said.
