MANILA — Following the eruption of Kanlaon Volcano on Monday, state volcanologists remind those living around the vicinity of the volcano to take necessary measure to keep themselves safe.These include the removal of any ash that may have accumulated on the roofs of homes, washing windows, doors, and even vehicles, using soap and water as well as cleaning food which may have been exposed to ashfall.At past 3 p.m., Kanlaon Volcano erupted sending a voluminous plume as high as 3,000 kilometer above its vent. The activity has prompted DOST-Phivolcs to raise volcano’s alert to level 3 which indicates magmatic unrest.“This means magmatic eruption has begun that may progress further explosive eruptions,” it said in a statement.“All local government units are advised to evacuate the six-kilometer radius from the summit of the volcano and must be prepared for additional evacuation if activity warrants.”Based on thermal camera monitors, pyroclastic density currents, were also reported to have descended the slopes of the southeastern edifice.As of writing, Phivolcs is still collating data and has yet to give further updates.<div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2024/12/9/kanlaon-volcano-erupts-alert-level-raised-to-3-1541">Kanlaon Volcano erupts; alert level raised to 3</a></div>
