Cebu Province PIO</span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday pledged at least P225 million for recovery efforts and a &quot;tent city&quot; for evacuees in Cebu province, where a powerful claimed at <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/10/2/death-toll-from-cebu-quake-climbs-to-72-0832">least 72 lives</a> this week.</p><p>Marcos told reporters the main impact of the quake had been to infrastructure, with officials unsure about the condition of evacuation centers, which meant &quot;we don&#x27;t have anything to house the displaced families&quot;.</p><p>He pledged to put up a &quot;tent city&quot; to temporarily house those whose dwellings were among the 600 wrecked by the quake.</p><p>Also to be accommodated there will be the thousands more whose homes remained structurally intact but who fear being caught up in the wave of aftershocks that still sweep the region.</p><p>&quot;Our decision was to procure giant tents... We will build a tent city that can be put up swiftly and will shield people from rain,&quot; he told reporters, pledging to supply it with food, water and electricity.</p><p>The government said 294 people were injured and around 20,000 had fled their homes across the north of Cebu. Many are sleeping on the streets.</p><p>More than 110,000 people in 42 communities affected by the quake will need assistance to rebuild their homes and restore their livelihoods, according to the regional civil defense office.</p><p>Marcos vowed to restore electricity to Bogo, a city of 90,000, by the end of the day and to provide a token worth P10,000 to each family that lost their home.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>SUPPORT FUND</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>Marcos announced that his office would release P150 million for Cebu province and P75 million for the other towns in the form of Local Government Support Fund. </p><p>He vowed that his administration would not stop assisting the province in its recovery from the earthquake.  </p><p>“We will continue to monitor. We will continue to coordinate with the leaders, the local leadership to make sure that maganda ang takbo ng ating rehabilitation and all the support na binibigay natin,” the President said.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2025/10/2/phivolcs-records-2329-aftershocks-at-magnitudes-1-5-0738">Phivolcs records 2329 aftershocks at magnitudes 1-5</a></div><p>He added that the hospital in Bogo has cleared for patients to return after they were evacuated outside.</p><p>“Ang DPWH nakapagpadala na ng mga engineer, tinignan na ang hospital, ngayon safe na.
