The cost of damage could increase when the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Office of Civil Defense conduct their own assessments,  Cebu province information officer Ainjeliz Orong told ANC’s Headstart.</p><p>The agricultural damage hast yet to be recorded, added Orong.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2025/10/1/cebu-quake-death-toll-reaches-60-as-injured-overwhelm-hospitals-1235">Cebu quake death toll nears 70 as injured overwhelm hospitals</a></div><p>Cebu has received an initial cash donation amounting to P380,000 and other in-kind donations.</p><p>While the province has enough relief goods for affected families, Orong said logistics slows the distribution due to the distance between the Cebu province command center and the affected municipalities, as well as the earthquake’s impact on the local government units.</p><p>“Some are still in drop-off points. I believe that it is manpower as well because some of the LGU personnel are still affected. That is the reason why we hope to take over, the capital will take over in collaboration with the national government and private institutions,” she said.</p><p>“And also, we cannot bring as many volunteers as we have because, as compared to typhoon, this is an earthquake and until now, there is still continuing aftershocks, so volunteers would have to be trained before we would be able to bring them in the area,” she said.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/lifestyle/food-travel/2025/10/2/tourist-rest-area-in-medellin-turned-into-drop-off-point-for-quake-donations-1917">Tourist rest area in Medellin turned into drop-off point for quake donations</a></div><p>She said the province needed potable water and more tents to serve as temporary shelters for evacuees. </p><p>President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2025/10/2/marcos-visits-town-hardest-hit-by-cebu-quake-1151">pledged</a> at least P225 million for recovery efforts and a &quot;tent city&quot; for evacuees.</p><p>Orong said the Cebu governor Pamela Baricuatro sought Marcos’ help to restore power in the province. </p><p>“During the meeting yesterday with the president, the governor expressed her hope in the next five days, everything would be functional. First priority is power. Now, there are still a lot of areas that don’t have power and without power, we won’t be able to do a lot,” she said.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/10/1/over-800-000-without-power-after-cebu-quake-opong-onslaught-1647">Over 800,000 without power after Cebu quake, Opong onslaught</a></div><p>She noted that the Cebu government would focus on rehabilitation in the next six months, prioritizing hospitals. </p><p>“That’s one of the structures that the government expressed to the president that they are hoping to get immediate help for because the hospital in Bogo City is one of the biggest hospitals in that area, in Northern Cebu,&quot; she said. </p><p>DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon has <a href="https://www.facebook.com/abscbnNEWS/posts/in-light-of-the-earthquake-in-cebu-dpwh-sec-vince-dizon-orders-all-building-offi/1296391572536096/">ordered </a>all building officials and city and municipal engineers in the province to evaluate all affected structures.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2025/10/1/cebu-quake-likely-triggered-by-fault-that-had-not-produced-powerful-tremor-in-past-400-years-1012">Cebu quake likely triggered by fault that had not produced powerful tremor in past 400 years</a></div><p>Orong said the provincial government was planning to provide tents that schools could use as temporary classrooms. Some private companies have also expressed willingness to lend commercial spaces that could serve as as makeshift educational facilities.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>BPOs</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>Orong added that the Cebu government was looking into reports of companies, especially those in business process outsourcing industry, that could have questionable procedures during calamities like earthquakes.
