MANILA - The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Sunday said it has already extended 158,150 family food packs (FFPs) to augment the resources of local government units (LGUs) hardest hit by the magnitude 6.9 tremor in Cebu province.The government agency said the food packs were delivered within five days since the powerful quake.“As of 4 a.m. of Sunday (October 5), we have already sent out 158,150 FFPs to the LGUs through our DSWD Field Office 7-Central Visayas. We’d like to thank our Field Office staff, as well as our numerous volunteers, who worked non-stop since the calamity struck Cebu on September 30,” said Asst. Secretary Irene Dumlao of the DSWD’s Disaster Response Management Group (DRMB), in a statement.The DSWD also promised additional FFPs as more vans were being deployed to the different LGUs on Sunday.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/10/4/marcos-visits-quake-victims-oversees-relief-efforts-in-cebu-2113">Marcos visits quake victims, oversees relief efforts in Cebu </a> </div>“With thousands of families affected, Secretary Rex Gatchalian gave instructions to intensify disaster relief and early recovery efforts and ensure that no one is left behind. All affected areas, no matter how hard to reach, will receive aid,” Dumlao, who is also the DSWD spokesperson, said.DSWD field offices sent their disaster teams to help Field Office 7 - Central Visayas in responding to the quake-hit families, especially as some of the affected areas are far-flung, with some located in Bantayan Island.Mobile kitchens have also been deployed in San Remigio and Bogo City to serve hot meals from breakfast to dinner to the internally displaced persons (IDPs). Additional three mobile kitchens from DSWD Field Offices Western Visayas, CALABARZON, and Northern Mindanao are en route to Cebu to be stationed in other LGUs.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2025/10/3/cebu-shifts-focus-on-quake-aid-distribution-as-search-and-rescue-ops-end-1410">Cebu shifts focus on quake aid distribution as search and rescue ops end  </a></div>Modular tents were also distributed, with a &quot;Tent City&quot; in Bogo City now serve as temporary shelter for those who lost their homes, said the DSWD.The DSWD also assured the protection of women and children in evacuation centers by setting up women and child-friendly spaces. In the evacuation camp in San Remigio, social workers held psycho- social activities for the children in the child-friendly space.While relief distribution is ongoing, the Department is also preparing for the early recovery phase with the implementation of the Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) program.
