MANILA -- The Department of Education reported that at least 312 public schools sustained damage following the onslaught of Uwan, with schools in Bicol Region and Calabarzon sustaining the most damage.Based on DepEd&#x27;s situation report for Nov. 12, 12 p.m.m 1,182 classrooms suffered minor damage, 366 classrooms were majorly damaged, and 261 were totally damaged. These figures are still being verified as additional reports continue to arrive, DepEd added.The regions of Bicol, Calabarzon and Cordillera recorded the highest number of damaged classrooms due to Uwan.The education department also reported that 5,572 classrooms across 1,072 schools in 11 regions are being used as evacuation centers.Education Secretary Sonny Angara gave the assurance that DepEd is committed to the immediate protection of students, teachers and school personnel, as well as the long-term continuity of learning.To address immediate needs, DepEd has identified funding requirements of P20.2 million for clean-up and clearing operations, and P57.9 million for minor repairs.Angara likewise said the department has prioritized the implementation of Alternative Delivery Modes (ADMs) in schools that remain closed due to recent typhoons and other calamities.Malacañang previously <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/11/7/walang-pasok-class-suspensions-on-nov-10-and-11-due-to-potential-super-typhoon-1434">suspended classes</a> in several regions until Nov. 11, Tuesday, due to Uwan.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/11/10/uwan-further-weakens-over-the-west-philippine-sea-after-displacing-1-4-million-1156">READ: Uwan further weakens over the West Philippine Sea after displacing 1.4 million</a></div>
