<p>MANILA — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) warned local government units to prepare ahead of potential super typhoon Uwan’s looming onslaught.</p><p>The weather disturbance, <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/weather-traffic/2025/11/6/tropical-storm-fung-wong-slightly-intensifies-1214">currently a tropical depression</a>, will enter the PAR as a typhoon late Friday or early Saturday. It will intensify up to super typhoon strength and make landfall at or near peak intensity over Northern or Central Luzon area on Monday.</p><p>The DILG called on LGUs to activate disaster councils, secure evacuation sites, and alert at-risk communities. </p><p>“We cannot be caught off guard. LGUs must take all precautionary steps now—activate disaster councils, prepare evacuation sites, and warn at-risk communities,” the DILG said in a statement. </p><p>Authorities urged the clearing of waterways, inspection of roads and bridges, and prepositioning of emergency response teams and relief supplies.</p><p>Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (LDRRMCs) were also reminded to plan preemptive evacuations in high-risk areas.</p><p>“Preparedness saves lives. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. directed all regional directors and unit commanders to activate disaster response plans and pre-position search, rescue, and relief teams in high-risk areas prone to flooding, landslides, and storm surges.</p><p>Additional personnel will be deployed to evacuation centers, major roads, and vital installations to ensure peace, order, and smooth evacuation operations.</p><p>The PNP is coordinating with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and other agencies to ensure a unified response. </p><p>“We urge everyone to take safety advisories seriously, prepare necessary supplies, and evacuate when instructed by authorities,” Nartatez said in a statement. </p><div><br/></div><div><strong>DRONE TECHNOLOGY IN DISASTER RESPONSE</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>Nartatez lauded the Cebu Provincial Police for using drones to monitor post-typhoon Tino traffic congestion. </p><p>Aerial monitoring helped manage severe traffic congestion in Liloan, Cebu, and allowed authorities to quickly assess road conditions, prioritize emergency response, and facilitate the passage of relief convoys.</p><p>“Malaki po ang naitulong ng aerial monitoring sa mabilis na assessment ng sitwasyon sa kalsada.
