<div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1762667774365viber_image_2025-11-09_11-40-05-180.jpg" style="width:950px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/>Photos courtesy of MDRRMO PagudpudMANILA (UPDATE) — Residents in several areas of Isabela and Ilocos Norte were evacuated Sunday as authorities prepared for the impact of Super Typhoon Uwan.</div>In Isabela, the cities of Ilagan and Santiago have been experiencing continuous rain and gusty winds since before noon.Local officials have ordered the forced evacuation of residents living near rivers and flood-prone areas in both cities.As of writing, 149 individuals are taking shelter in evacuation centers in Ilagan.Meanwhile, Santiago City has reported intermittent power outages in several villages, though communication lines remain stable.In the coastal town of Dilasag, Aurora, where strong winds are blowing and waves have begun battering the shore, authorities have also ordered preemptive evacuations.As of 8 a.m., around 395 residents from Barangays Diniog, Dicabasan, Dilaguidi, Diagyan, and Masagana had been evacuated, according to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office. Evacuations are ongoing in other barangays.In Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, 30 families or 108 individuals were evacuated from barangays Caparisoisan, Pancian and Saud due to the threat of storm surge in these coastal areas.More residents are expected to be evacuated, said provincial disaster risk reducation and management officer Marcelle Tabije.Officials in the cities of Laoag and Batac, as well as in the towns of Piddig, Bacarra, Pasuquin and Currimao, are expected to carry out pre-emptive evacuations this Sunday.Meanwhile, dredging operations are underway along the Padsan River in Laoag City to prevent water overflow that could potentially reach the Gilbert Bridge, the main bridge connecting Laoag to other towns in the province.Livestock have also been moved to safer, higher ground to prevent them from being trapped should the storm intensify.Disaster officials hope that the super typhoon will weaken once it passes through the Sierra Madre and other mountain ranges in Northern Luzon.In Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, officials from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Philippine Coast Guard carefully dug out 109 sea turtle eggs along the shores of Barangay Natba.The eggs were relocated to protect them from the powerful waves and storm surges expected from Super Typhoon Uwan.
