Courtesy of Mandaue City PIO and Iya Baya/screengrab</span></span></span></div><div><br/></div><p>CEBU — The woman who rescued her dogs from a burning building in Barangay Guizo, Mandaue City, received a commendation from the local government unit on Monday.</p><p>She was identified as Ei Mei Lee Chiu-Maningo, who was residing in the same building that was razed on December 10.</p><p>Members of the Mandaue City Council gave her commendation during their regular council session karong adlawa, Disyembre 15, for her bravery.</p><p>“She risked herself to save her two dogs “Miyah” and “Kayen”,” wrote a portion of the city’s statement.</p><p>Both were pomeranian-type dogs.</p><p>Her commendation was done by a resolution authored by councilor Jen Del Mar.</p><div><br/></div><div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1765847194218viber_image_2025-12-16_07-41-06.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left"><em>Mandaue City PIO</em></span></span></span></div><p>“Her calmness in thinking, despite the danger was acknowledged amidst the risk she was facing,” the city added.</p><p>In response, Maningo reminds all &quot;fur parents&quot; to be responsible owners and show love for their pets.</p><p>“Let us be responsible, because our pets don’t have a way of saying what they feel, so we must be responsible enough and compassionate enough to take care of them,” she said.</p><p>Several animal welfare groups also expressed their praises to Maningo for her heroic deeds towards the dogs.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO</strong></div><div><br/></div><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/lg8ZLGTP5TE?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div>
