(UPDATED) Dalawang  turistang Russian ang nasawi habang nagsasagawa ng scuba diving sa karagatan na malapit sa Verde Island, Batangas City, nitong Huwebes ng hapon.Ayon kay Batangas Coast Guard Station Commander Capt. Airland Lapitan,  nangyari ang insidente bandang ala-una ng hapon habang nagsasagawa nag-scuba diving ang apat na Russian national sa may bahagi ng Pulong Bato sa Verde Island.Naitakbo pa sa St. Patrick Hospital sa Batangas City ang unang Russian pero dead on arrival na.Bandang ala-singko y media ng hapon nang mamataan ng search and rescue team ng PCG-Batangas ang bangkay ng ikalawang Russian diver  na putol na ang kanang kamay.Sa inisyal na imbestigasyon, biglang nagbago ng agos ng tubig sa dagat habang nagdadive  ang mga turista.Nakaahon pa umano ang dalawang Russian divers at master diver samantalang napahiwalay ang dalawang nasawi.“Nagkaroon ng malakas na current sir, nagkahiwa-hiwalay , yung dalawa kasama ang master diver nakaahon sila sir pero pag-ahon nila sir hindi nakabalik yung dalawa,” sabi ni Cpt. Lapitan.Nahirapan ang PCG na  marekober ang katawan ng biktima dahil sa marami umanong mga pating ang umaaligid.Hinihinalang inatake ng pating ang isang biktima dahil sa naputol ang kanang kamay nito.“May theory sir na shark attack kasi iniikutan siya ng mga shark eh,“ sabi ni Lapitan.Iniuwi na ang labi ng pangalawang biktima sa Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro at ang mga nakaligtas. Habang ang unang nasawi ay dinala sa isang ospital sa Batangas City.
