<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/17422814120081740124287987Screenshot 2025-02-21 at 3.48.55 PM.webp" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Residents in Sultan Kudarat look for their names from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) list of voters for the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) plebiscite at the Simuay Junction Crossing Elementary School, January 21, 2019. <em>Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News/File</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — Malacañang on Tuesday expressed support for the investigations in the alleged misuse of P6.4 billion in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), saying that the issue needs to be addressed. </p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/3/17/palace-tells-milf-to-give-new-interim-chief-minister-a-chance-1653">Palace tells MILF to give new interim Chief Minister a chance</a></div><p>The House Committee on Public Accounts earlier said that a fraud audit needs to be conducted to see if there was partiality in the release of the P6.4-billion Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) in the BARMM. </p><p>“Kung ano po ang iniimbestigahan diyan ay talaga pong nararapat lamang na bigyan ng pansin at itama ang dapat na itama,” Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said in a Palace briefing.</p><p>“Alam po natin na may nangyayaring hearing at iyan po ay ating nirerespeto dahil katungkulan naman po nila na magsagawa ng hearing at ito ay may kinalaman din sa kanilang oversight function,” she said. </p><p>Castro clarified that the issue on the alleged fund misuse is linked to the recent resignation of Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) chairman Ahod “Al Haj Murad” Ebrahim as chief minister of the Bangsamoro. </p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2025/2/21/marcos-seeks-speedy-passage-of-bill-postponing-barmm-elections-1558">Marcos signs law postponing Bangsamoro elections</a></div><p>“Wala po itong kinalaman sa pagpapalit po ng Interim Chief Minister dahil mismo si Sir Ebrahim mismo ang nagsabi na kaya po siya bibitaw at dahil magko-concentrate po siya sa BARMM Parliamentary elections,” the Palace official said. </p><p>Last week, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed Abdulraof Macacua as the new BARMM Interim Chief Minister, but did not provide a reason for the leadership change in the Bangsamoro. </p><p>The President also appointed Antonio Cerilles as Presidential Adviser on Mindanao Concerns.</p><p>The Palace on Monday urged the MILF to give Macacua &quot;a chance.&quot;</p><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO</strong></div><div><strong><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/YG3DvpHTOZc?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span></strong><br/></div>
