MANILA -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has filed disqualification petition against incumbent Misamis Oriental governor and re-electionist Peter Unabia over his nurse joke in a campaign rally last April 3, 2025.In a document released to the media on Monday, April 28, the commission&#x27;s Task Force SAFE filed its motu proprio petition against Unabia before the Office of Clerk of the Commission.The disqualification petition against Unabia stemmed from his joke about a nursing scholarship that favors &quot;beautiful women.&quot;The commission believes Unabia violated provisions of the Anti-Discrimination and Fair Campaign Guidelines under its Resolution 11116.In his campaign rally, Unabia said only “beautiful women” are qualified for nursing scholarships.Unabia said male patients’ health could get worse if an “ugly” nurse is assigned to take care of them.
