Hawak pa rin ng angkan ng mga Mercado ang matibay na puwesto sa pulitika ng Southern Leyte, batay sa partial at unofficial election results na inilabas ng Commission on Elections ngayong Mayo 13, 2025, 2:32 a.m.Sa 82% ng election returns na naiproseso, lumalabas na si Governor Damian Mercado ng Lakas–CMD ay nangunguna sa karera para sa pagka-gobernador sa botong 103,271. Kasunod niya si Amalia Yap (Independent) na may 98,028 boto, habang si Leo Oliverio (Independent) ay may 1,620 boto.Si Yap ay kilalang ina ng pamilyang Yap na dati&#x27;y kaalyado ng mga Mercado pero ngayon ay tumatakbong independent candidate para hamunin ang kasalukuyang gobernador. Para sa pagka-Bise Gobernador, lumalabas na lamang na lamang si Milai Mercado (Lakas–CMD) sa botong 114,166.Sa First District ng Southern Leyte, nangunguna si Roger “Oging” Mercado (NPC) na may 58,605 boto. Malayo ang agwat niya sa katunggaling si Marisa Leria (KNP) na may 24,796 boto, habang si Oscar Camus (Independent) ay nakakuha ng 1,823 boto. Si Cong. Roger ay kapatid ng kasalukuyang gobernadora.Sa Ikalawang Distrito, dikit ang labanan sa pagitan ni Coco Yap (Lakas–CMD) na may 57,926 boto at ni Emie Tan (Independent) na may 53,206 boto. Si Yap ay anak ng tumatakbo bilang Gobernador na si Amalia Yap.Sa Maasin City na capital ng Southern Leyte, nangunguna si, Luz Mercado (Lakas–CMD) na ina ng incumbent mayor na si Nacional Mercado at asawa ni Congressman Roger Mercado. Sa partial count, nangunguna siya sa pagka-mayor sa botong 21,047, laban kay Maloney Samaco (PDR) na may 20,558 boto. Si Gerry Dator (Independent) ay may 1,173 boto.Sa pagka-Bise Alkalde, malaki ang lamang ng ka-tandem ni Mercado na si Effie Abiera (NP) na may 24,751 boto laban kay Zaldy Olita (PDR) na may 13,762 boto.
