Liza Macalandag </div>CEBU CITY — Baclayon town in Bohol has ordered a halt to all water activities in Pamilacan Island while it investigates the deaths of two tourists who drowned there.Mayor Alvin Uy ordered the suspension of water activities in response to the drowning of two elderly Korean men who went snorkeling off Pamilacan last Wednesday.The two had reportedly insisted on snorkeling despite being told not to. They also allegedly did not pay the local government unit fee to enter Pamilacan Island with boatmen from Panglao Island.Mayor Uy said that they would need a thorough investigation “to ascertain that similar incidents will not happen again.” Uy&#x27;s executive order tasks the police with enforcing the suspension on water activities, which include snorkeling, diving and boating.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/regions/2024/6/5/former-whale-shark-hunters-now-work-to-protect-pamilacan-island-and-its-marine-life-905">Former whale shark hunters now work to protect Pamilacan Island and its marine life </a></div>He also set a meeting on Friday to discuss the incident and to improve tourism activities on Pamilacan.Pamilacan is an island barangay and among the major tourism islands in Bohol.
