MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) First Division on Monday lifted the suspension of proclamation of Reina Mercedes, Isabela vice mayor winner Jeryll Harold Respicio over 2 weeks after he won the midterm polls.

On May 12, the same Comelec division suspended the proclamation of Respicio as vice mayor of the Reina Mercedes town pending the resolution of the disqualification petition filed against him by the poll body’s anti-misinformation "Task Force Katotohanan, Katapatan, Katarungan."

Respicio in January alleged that the Comelec's automated counting machines (ACMs) for the 2025 midterm elections can be hacked, prompting the Comelec to file a cyber-libel complaint against him.

In a decision dated June 2 penned by First Division commissioner Aimee Ferolino, it said that the lifting of the suspension of proclamation was "without prejudice to the resolution of this matter on the merits."

Comelec has ordered the Reina Mercedes Municipal Board of Canvassers to reconvene within 5 days to proceed with Respicio's proclamation.
