<p>Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia has filed an electoral protest before the Commission on Elections to contest the results of the May 12 polls. </p><p>In a meeting with Cebu mayors Tuesday, Garcia said that she gathered pieces of evidence during the elections. </p><p>&quot;A lot of evidence has surfaced latest of which, there is now proof that the votes intended for <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2025/4/29/cebu-governor-gwen-garcia-preventively-suspended-1615">Governor Gwen Garcia </a>were credited to my opponent,&quot; said Garcia.</p><p>The governor added that she will question the results reflected in over 4,100 clustered precincts, adding that she has gathered &quot;technical and software-proven evidence.&quot;</p><p>&quot;I truly believe that the result for the gubernational election here in Cebu did not reflect the honest will of the people,&quot; she added.</p><p>Pam Baricuatro won with a margin of over 300,000 against Garcia. </p><p>The Commission on Elections in Central Visayas says that the protest must have been filed in their Central Office through the Electoral Commission Adjudication Division. </p><p>&quot;They might be praying for the recounting, for the annulment for the results of the precinct. We can look at that issue based on their alegations,&quot; said Comelec 7 Director Francisco Pobe.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/regions/2025/5/23/no-defiance-of-ombudsman-suspension-order-we-have-tro-garcia-lawyer-1149">No defiance of Ombudsman suspension order, we have TRO — Garcia lawyer</a></div><p>Their office will not be involved in the matter except for the shipping of the ballots in the event the aggrieved party’s request is granted.</p><p>The expense will be shouldered by the complainant, Pobe added.</p><p>For her part, Cebu Governor-elect Pam Baricuatro’s camp said that they have yet to receive a copy of the electoral protest.</p><p>“And as soon as we secure the document, we will provide relevant comments. It is surprising that such remedy is being availed by outgoing Gov. Gwen Garcia’s camp considering that Governor-elect Pam Baricuatro received overwhelming 1.1 MILLION mandate from the Cebuanos,” said Atty.
