MANILA - The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Southern Tagalog District has confirmed that a landing craft transport (LCT) vessel named San Juan Bautista sank between Romblon Island and Sibuyan Island in the province of Romblon before noon Monday.According to PCG Southern Tagalog District Commodore Geronimo Tuvilla, all crew members of the LCT San Juan Bautista were rescued safely by a passing fishing vessel en route to Negros Occidental.The fishing vessel brought the rescued crew to Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.According to the vessel’s master, they had departed from Guihulngan Port in Negros Oriental and were headed to Navotas City for dry docking.Tuvilla stated that the ill-fated vessel was carrying only about 2,500 liters of diesel fuel for its own consumption and had no cargo on board.The PCG is still investigating the cause of the sinking.They are also working to determine the exact location where the vessel sank, which is reportedly near the tourist spot Cresta De Gallo.
